About Us

DSCF0953

The Nashville School of Historical Fencing was founded in 2015, we are the first and largest school of HEMA in the Mid-South area and are committed to the goal of fostering the growth of Historical European Martial Arts in our region. Led by multiple instructors each with over a decade of experience in historical fencing and other martial arts, we take a strong pedagogical approach to the study of HEMA, implementing both historical and modern training methodologies. We embrace the physical culture fencing requires and take our training seriously rather than casually. HEMA is a broad spectrum and offers many avenues of study, our focus is the Longsword in the Germanic tradition, primary from 15th and 16th century sources and the Italian Rapier from the 17th century. We also regularly train other weapon systems including, dussack/messer, military sabre, sword & buckler, and dagger. We open up enrollment for new students two times per year.
